The short version

  • Your collection stays on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud.
  • We don't collect, see, store, or sell any of your data.
  • No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.

This policy explains how the Veya app for iPhone handles information. Veya is made by Anhira LLC, a Michigan company ("we", "us"). If anything here is unclear, email support@anhira.net.

What we collect

Nothing. Veya has no accounts and no servers of our own. We never receive your plants, notes, photos, or any other information you put in the app, and we have no way to access it.

Where your data lives

Everything you add to Veya is stored on your iPhone. If you're signed in to iCloud, Veya syncs it to your other devices through your own private iCloud storage, run by Apple. Only you can see it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Species lookups

When you add or check a species, Veya looks up its name in GBIF (the Global Biodiversity Information Facility), a free public database of the world's species, to find its family tree. Veya sends only the species name. As with any website, GBIF's servers see your device's IP address when the request is made. Nothing about you or your collection is sent. See GBIF's privacy policy.

Purchases

Veya Plus is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details or Apple Account information. Veya stores only whether Plus is unlocked, on your device.

Photos

When you add photos to a plant, Veya reads only the photos you choose. It doesn't browse your library. If you tap Save Image, Veya asks permission to add that image to your Photos. It doesn't read your library to do this.

Sharing with other people

You can share a species card or send a plant to another Veya user. Sharing happens directly between you and them, through AirDrop, Messages, email, or a QR code. It never passes through us. You choose what's included, and your name is added only if you choose to include it.

Plant labels contain only a random code. They don't contain your plant's name or details, and mean nothing to anyone without that plant in their own Veya.

Crash reports

Veya contains no crash-reporting or analytics tools. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Deleting your data

Deleting Veya removes its data from your iPhone. To remove the synced copy too, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage, choose Veya, and delete its data. Because we never hold your data, there's nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

Veya doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If Veya ever starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect.
